Director Shaena Mallett's film follows Nick Nolan and his young family on a journey to resurrect his late grandfather's dairy farm as agriculture moves toward large-scale farming. A study of place and persistence, "Farmsteaders" points an honest and tender lens at everyday life in rural America and provides a glimpse at the struggles faced by many farmers in Wisconsin's dairy industry. This event is a collaboration with POV, the award-winning independent nonfiction film series on PBS (www.pbs.org/pov), and the film will premiere on PBS Sept. 2.
